Men, not seeing Peroto Moreno Galcier in this list is unfare. It’s a top 3 of Patagonian landscapes without question. I strongly recommend to anyone to go to that glacier. Is the best one (better than exploradores or o’higgins for sure).

Natalie, flights to South America are expensive and travel with points are highly recommended. Milly, a two week trip to Patagonia is ideal between November to early March. Look for prices on google flights from your point of origin to Santiago. I listed a sample itinerary below which I used to visit Patagonia and Atacama:
1. Miami to Santiago (nonstop AA flight leaving MIA at 10.45 pm will reach SCL at 9.06 am) – $945

2. Take a connecting nonstop flight same day from SCL to Punta arenas (PUQ) – LATAM airline Leaves SCL at 10.20 am or 1.20 pm and returns to SCL at 6.35 pm – $163
Punta arenas – Take bus or rent a car and drive (2 hours) to stay at Puerto Natales (base for going on 4 day W trek + Grey glacier tour). Find a good hotel in booking.com.

After the W trek, drive (5 hrs) or take a bus to El Calafate for a night stay. See and walk on Perito Moreno glacier in El calafate. Drive to El Chalten (3 hours) and hike the mountains (stay at El Chalten 1 night).
Return to Puerto Natales for a night stay or drive straight to Punta arenas.

3. Leave Punta arenas to return to Santiago (stay 1 night?) or take a connecting nonstop flight from SCL to Calama (CJC) – LATAM leaving SCL at 7.30 pm and returns to SCL at 5.05 pm -$190.

List of places to see in Atacama desert are El Tatio Geysers, El Valle De La Luna, Atacama Salt Flats and Chaxa Lagoon and star gazing on a clear night.

5. Return from CJC to SCL and take same day flight back to Miami by AA at 9pm.

I recommend 10 days at Puerto natales/El Calafate/Punta arenas and at least 3 nights in Atacama desert.

No Argentina Reciprocity fee for US citizens at this time so you can cross Chile border with a rental car free of charge (make sure car rental company is aware of it and there is no up-charge).

Jody, summer time in patagonia is winter in USA so the best time to visit is November to early March. Prices will hike too so careful early (6 months) planning is necessary.

This looks awesome! My boyfriend and I are pretty keen to do a trip through South America next year, and Patagonia is right up the top of the list! How long do you think we should spend there specifically? And what are the easiest to get to if we have a short time and smaller budget?
