I am an Indian and living in south-east Asia from the past 27 years. I always keep your mentioned checkpoints whenever I travel but I truly feel that it applies to every country you travel to. I have seen snatching issues a lot in Paris as well. Racism in the United Kingdon a lot. The problem of drugs is prevalent everywhere. Every person in the US has a meth lab in his or her home. Though, I admit that there’s a lot of taxi scams happening in South East Asia and even sometimes I need to take note of that even being an Asian as it had happened to me in the past. Water sanitization issue is almost everywhere in Southeast Asia’s countries. I will try your recommended water purifier bottle. Thanks and have a nice day.

They can be bought on Ebay. This saves buying water in plastic bottles and also filters which only last for so long and can get blocked by particles and have to be binned earlier. I have used these in Africa & India without problems and in foil strips they are light to carry around. w

Most of the locals are kind and helpful, much more than back home. But I can’t count the number of people I’ve seen with road rash and bandages on their arms and legs (especially in Bali)! Drive safe everyone!

Also the taxi scams are real, the one that always gets me is “no change sorry” when I only have large bills. I’m either left running into a restaurant to get change or paying $5 for a $1 ride -_-
